Our Miracle Fruit trees in 2 gallon post are 4 to 5 years old (3'tall) and grown from seeds from reliable stock.

Miracle Fruit plants are staked in a sealed in a plastic wrapping to retain moisture during shipment. When you receive this plant, simply remove the plastic and check moisture in the soil. Water the plant once per day while in their container. Plants have also been fertilized for the season.

Miracle Fruit plants are slow growing evergreen shrubs but produce abundant yields nearly year round and will begin producing fruit after reaching 16" tall. Plants in our 5" pots are 2-3 years old and are already 10"-1' tall. In container culture, Miracle Fruit shrubs can grow 5-8' high. In the field, expect upwards of 10-15' in height.

The Scarlett red colored berry has a large seed (avoid consumption) with little pulp. The taste of the berry is subtle & pleasant. The magical experience that follows the berry's consumption is sure to entertain!

Consumption Instructions: Coat the tongue with the berry’s flesh and juice for as long as possible to get a longer effect. Avoid biting and swallowing the seed by spitting it out. The fruit contains a unique glycoprotein called miraculin which shifts the perception of sour tastes to a realization of the sweetness contained in every food.

This effect can assist those who are looking to intake more food & calories or just have a little fun. Chemotherapy patients who have lost their appetite will often use the Miracle Berry to help the medicine go down, so to speak. The metallic taste associated with chemotherapy treatment is altered & eating can become more appealing. This can help greatly in malnourished food habits as enjoyment in food can be found once again.

*Planting Instructions*
Miracle Fruit plants are ideal patio plants to allow for proper care & attention. If kept in containers, a potting soil with peat moss and an acidic pH is best. Regular watering while avoiding overwatering is key; allow the top layers of soil to dry out before watering again. Regular feeding of organic amendments and fertilizers 2-3 times per year is the key to keeping this plant thriving. Transition container grown Miracle Fruit into larger pots as they age to encourage new growth and higher fruit sets. Mulching & topdressing with compost, vermicompost & organic matter while in containers is very beneficial for providing fertilization & water retention.

In the landscape, planting into well drained soils, high in organic matter is the best site for a Miracle Fruit shrub. The shrubs are plants found in the humid-tropics and will suffer greatly in temperatures falling below 40 degrees or in dry-air conditions. In the subtropics, consider planting along south facing walls to utilize winter sun heat retention radiating from buildings & structures.

Since Miracle Fruit is an evergreen shrub, we recommend planting in partial shade/filtered sunlight, as it would typically be found in the understory . Plantings in full sun may produce greater yields of fruit but will require more water & fertilizer. As with all new plantings, a regular watering schedule during the plant’s establishment in best practice. Watering 3-4 times a week for the first month, with reduction in watering in subsequent months, will ensure a smooth transition from pot to landscape.

To maximize yield and ensure a healthy life of your fruit tree, mulch around the drip line, topdress with compost, vermicpompost & organic matter regularly, use organic fertilizer high in nitrogen 2-3 times per year, garden with companion plants of cover crops, flowering plants and herbs!

Organically grown & cared for trees will bear many fruits per year.
Full Size: Average 5'-7' but can grow larger in a tropical landscape.
Cold Tolerance: Needs to be protected from tempratures in the 30s & from high winds
Light Requirements: Growing in filtered sunlight works best for a high yield of berries.
Drought Tolerance/Watering: If grown in filtered light, watering needs are reduced.
